I know, they recommend quad core cpu, but will they anytime soon make some kind of a patch to support dual cores?
The game stutters and is unplayable at any given resolution or settings.

I have tryied everything. Even with oc 4.5GHz game still stutter.
Rest of my system is 16gb ram and gtx 960.
Never had this kind of problem before.
I have latest nvidia drivers and game is on autoupdate.

I am forced to buy a new cpu?

Uhm, it most likely already has multi-core support and why would that cause stutter? A slwo CPU would mean the GPU will have to wait for it to push out frames so you'll just have lower frames.

Are you running VSync? That could help (or make it worse). And are you running at Unlimited frames? If you do, you could try 60FPS as it will stop frame fluctuations.
Powerful GPU wont work good with bad CPU. Time for upgrade.
Why does everyone think its a slow CPU?
In single threaded games, its even faster then most quad cores (with oc 4.5GHz+ offcourse).
You can't really see difference in fps unless you have both systems on the table at use fraps.
Most of my systems I sell are with this CPU and no one ever mentioned it was too slow.
I sell both - highend and midend for casual gaming.

I would like to see if there are people in this forum who also have problems running this game with dual core and not telling me something that they have no real experience in.
Thanks.
are you running some type of monitoring software to see to see wether it's the gpu or the cpu that couldn't keep up with the game. if it's from the gpu then probably tone down some of the settings.

I went through all options yesterday and nothing could change stutter.
Have tryed vsync of/on and almost everything from low to ultra. I can ofc see difference but 0 sudden lag in fraps.
Fraps does not respond to this stutter. Ill try to record it later today.
Is there any other program I can see every load ingame?

Forgot to say, I got a great deal today on a quad cpu. Will get back after I install it on friday.

I have only used afterburner. It shows gpu load, vram oad, cpu loads, system ram load. temperatures, bus loads and bunch os other stuff i don't even know much about. It' not just a gpu overclcoking utility.
Minimum CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940

IF the Witcher 3 is made with a quad core in mind and actually uses more than 2 cores, it doesn't matter that your single or dual core performance is superb.

It then tries to run more than 2 threads on a cpu that can only handle 2 at the same time, resulting in stutters. It really is too bad, but I don't think they'll rewrite the game to only use 2 cores. They probably had to spread the workload over multiple cores to even make the game run half-decent on the PS4 and XBone as the cpu's in these consoles have incredibly weak single core performance.

Lets see if I am ready now, just exchanged mine g3258 to a used 4670K and ordered 2xGTX970.
I guess after this update today even my dual core would run it, but now I cant even test it.
EUREKA! I totally fixed it guys. Used battle encoder shirase and limited CPU usage to 97%. NO MORE STUTTER!
G3258 @4,5GHz, GTX 750Ti, Witcher patched to current (1.08.4) version

hey ,

I have exactly the same problem as you, for battle encoder Shirase, how should I do? only have a few options, choose steam?
and another thing, the breaka game when it comes around 95% and as thou restrain to 97%, and has surpassed 95%, should i limit to 80%?

thank you and sry for english.

EDIT: forgett, its fix.

Your Portuguese is much better than my English, so no apology needed!
