Hello,

It's just me or there is a lot of clipping in the game ? I mean, it was fine before with the 1.03 patch, but now vegetation is horrible, even with foliage set at high. And it's become far far worse for NPCs, they appear like ghosts just in front of me. Plus, it seems that aliasing has been increased.

Anything can fix this crap, a tweak or something ? Thanks.
It was there before 1.04.

It is pretty horrible though, there must be a setting somewhere to change it. It even happens during cutscenes on beards, armour and background objects.

Yeah but now it's getting worse.
I definitely notice it more after the 1.04 patch. You're not alone.
Yes, the NPC pop-ins have become very annoying at certain locations since the 1.04 patch. Love the game to death though... a masterpiece even.
Distance-rendering for certain assets like huts/buildings and vegetation such as crops/sunflowers/wheat fields (that sort of thing) can't be changed in the user config.

It's hardcoded to the engine. Hopefully they will unlock it because I agree the popping is bad.

The only enhancements you can make to extend distance-rendering on right now is grass, tree quality, and shadows.

made a video showing the texture popping on these assets here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tBI0A374t8

Thanks but, how to do that exactly ?
Yes im seeing it happen alot since 1.04. I saw it happen in 1.03 aswell tho not nearly as bad as the latest batch.

Also notice it renders npc in background slower, very noticeable when a cutscene starts.

the npc rendering is so slow in novigrad that blacksmiths and merchants don't show up on the minimap or in the area unless you stand there for a good 5 or 10 seconds, then they appear.

the npc rendering is horrendously slow.
The whole has been patchy since that patch release.

I have had no texture pop in whatsoever, but it seems others here have as well. It could be something in the patch, I know they did improve texture quality on Ultra and High settings in one of the recent patches. But your video card, the amount of memory on both your video card and system, the drive you have the game stored on and your in-game graphics settings can all have an impact on texture pop in as well. If it is a real problem for you, there are a few things you can try, besides a hardware upgrade lol. Texture pop in usually occurs when the data cannot be read, loaded and rendered quickly enough to keep up with the engine. For example, if you do not have enough video memory for the texture quality you are trying to run (the higher the texture quality, the more memory required) and the textures have to be read from disk instead of being loading from memory.

You can try reducing the video quality settings. Several things can have an impact, but texture quality usually has the biggest impact on pop in. You can try lowering the number of background characters. You can reduce the foliage visibility range too, if you are having pop in on vegetation. Also, make sure you don't have a bunch of background programs running and taking resources away from the game and make sure you keep your drive defrag'd.

As for the aliasing getting worse, I think since they changed the sharpening filter, the game looks terrible on high sharpening. Perhaps that is the change you noticed? You can turn the sharpening down to low and see if that helps. The setting is in Video>Postprocessing. I personally think it looks much better on low, high seems to only add a lot more aliasing.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate that.

And yeah I set sharpening to low, there is still aliasing though but no big deal (1.03 patch had less btw). But for pop-in matters, I got 3GB VRAM on my graphic card, so I think it's enough right ? I'm gonna put high setting to see if there is any difference.

Thanks again.
same here, mostly with NPC's. and I'm running a gtx970 just on High settings with other options off. looks ridiculous.
Same issue! Started after 1.04. Here is example. On one screen I'm near a bench, I stood there for a few seconds, then, on second screen, I came closer and NPC just appeard from thin air.

See attached screenshots.

Strange. Popping appears less frequently for me after 1.04 patch. But maybe it's just my imagination.

They should fix this problem ASAP though. It's very immersion breaking.
