Yeah you need to be careful when interpreting the event viewer


One problem might be that w3 is pretty hardware hungry. It could quite as well be that LoL for example runs without any problem even though it is not w3's fault.

Upgraded chipset, Did the cmd, tried 3 original drivers. Maby it's my 500 watt powersupply. Damn it

Before upgrading your power supply you should check if a similar error happens with other games. Try stress-testing your CPU (prime95) and GPU (3dmark) for some time and see what happens.

While I do think that a 500W PSU is a bit to low, it might be wrong to encourage you to buy a new PSU when it is not certain if your PSU is causing the problems in the first place.

As for me, I used to have that driver error in my GPU while playing DOTA2, I thought my video card had failed (Palit 760ti jetstream 2gb), but after stress testing in 3dmark, it was ok. It occurred to me that it was the installation of the card on my Mobo that was wrong, it was a bit dislocated due to prior installation of fans in the case. So, I suggest you do clean your case, maybe overheating also, and reinstall your card physically. If does not solve it, buy a higher PSU, I have 650W. Never got the black screen error resulting to hard reset again. Witcher 3 pushed my GPU temp to 80c so I initially stop playing it since I dont have proper cooling yet on my system, then I added fans, cpu cooler and another ram stick, you know that higher temp in GPU means higher consumption of power, right? so there, PSU. :)
