Hickory: Book fans hate the series. Sapkowski himself disowned them.
Surfinjo: Seems Sapkpwski says many things according to who you listen to. One report has him being uninterested in what people do, as long as he gets a small amount of cash.
There is some criticism of some innovations. But the atmosphere is very close to what seems to have been intended.
Being a book fan myself, I have to disagree. Rarely are any narratives accurately transposed, with the possible exception of Hardy. Transposing atmosphere however, makes up for most things.
Hopefully people will make up their own minds.
There are only 13 in the series.
I understand NetFlix intend to make an effort. I doubt that will be enough to persuade me to pay whatever it is they are currently asking for their largely lame output. Personal opinion.
I was generalising, of course, but the reason that most devote fans dislike the series is because of how different key characters and events were portrayed: There is
no witcher code in the books; Geralt was not taken by the witchers ("Law of Surprise") in the books, he was given to them by his mother; in the series Geralt is treated as an outcast by other witchers -- he was not; Vesemir is a priest in the series, not a witcher; the series introduced a female school of witchers where no such thing existed; the series has Geralt meeting Ciri in the temple of Melitele -- he met her in Brokilon forest; the Order of the White Rose had no ties to Nilfgaard or Renfri in the books, nor was it a prominent organisation; Nenneke and Iola die in the series -- they did not. Etc...
