So, I was surprisingly disappointed with the ending. I mean the game is so consistently high quality but the ending felt so rushed. [I got the ending where Ciri lives/comes back and becomes a witcher.] There was extremely little character interaction. I felt there was practically zero explanation as to why Ciri was the one to stop the white frost, or even what the white frost was and how it came to be. Many characters endings were just left unmentioned. We didn't see Yen, we didn't see Triss, we didn't see Zoltan, or Dandelion, or practically anyone.

What gives? I was shocked. After three games, we really needed a little more cool down from this long and involving experience.

So what does everyone else think? What stuck out for you?

The ending I got mentioned all the pertinent characters... It was a really nice and heartfelt ending that perfectly capped the story...

My ending mentioned Triss, Cerys, Ciri, Radovid and Geralt. Whose did yours mention?

Going to spoil something here:

Emhyr stepped down, Ciri took on the Nilfgaardian throne, Yennefer and Geralt lived happily ever after, Radovid was dead, Temeria was reinstated, Dandelion and Zoltan continued their business...

Interesting. So you got a mention of Dandelion and Zoltan. I wonder why I did not, I believe I did all their sidequests. Maybe it was because they couldn't continue their business with Radovid's oppression (I didn't kill Radovid). They just were not mentioned.

Anyway, I would have preferred to see or talk to the characters about what had happened some. There was also no tie up discussion between Yen, Geralt or Triss about their continuing or ending friendship/relationships.

You already got that information while playing the main quests. If you pick Triss you know exactly what will happen even before the ending sequence. What happens to Yennefer if you pick Triss? What do you think happened? She is in Nilfgaard by the emperor :P or the Empress if Ciri decides to become one. Much is left to your interpretation and deduction skills.

I got the Ciri becoming the new Empress....and I had enough of information to figure out what happened with everyone :P I kind of like it this way. Maybe more will be said in the upcoming expansions.

Did Priscilla recover? Will Zoltan be killed by fanatics because Radovid survives? Is Dandelion's cabaret a success? Did the Baron's wife ever recover? What was the reaction to Crach's death? So, Yen might continue as aid to the emperor, but the emperor gets assassinated. Is she okay? Is she happy after Geralt?

No way to deduce any answers to these questions, the game just suggested each question but failed to resolve them. Generally, I love CDPR's writing. The ending just fell short of what I wanted from a complete story.

Priscilla recovered. Dandelion mentions that in this particular ending. The cabaret is profitable. They are singing in a duo now. She has a lower tone of voice however. Dandelion is truly in love with her. Both mentally and anatomically.

Zoltan will never get killed. Stop even thinking about that. He is a resourceful dwarf. More about him in the expansions I guess.

Crach's Death? Everyone was sad, the kingdom continued to grow under his daughter's rule and prospered. He got a funeral like all warriors in Skellige most probably. Everyone was sad.

Yen and other mages get an asylum in Nilfgaard. They will do whatever mages do. Advise, have businesses, be involved in politics. More about it in the expansions I bet. Here I must agree that more words would be in order.

I felt it a bit rushed too, but I think it's ok. About the white frost, it has been mentioned before, in the books and in the first game. It's just the end of the world, unavoidable, which comes to every single world sooner or later. Ciri could stop it entering in its original world, because of her power which comes from her blood. And don't forget that we will have two expansions and 12 dlc.

About the white frost, I know thats been mentioned. That's a little vague though, don't you think? Why is there a white frost? What's causing it? Natural disaster? Magic? Conjunction of worlds? How does Ciri stop it? We don't even know what it is or how she is supposed to have stopped it. Or was that mentioned in a book somewhere I missed?

Remember that you are playing a game from the point of view of a witcher and a girl who has been running her entire life. Their goal never was learning everything about why such a thing like an apocalypse exists, or how exactly does it works.

Haha except this is a story, not real life. Obviously you found nothing wrong with it though, whereas I felt it lacking. Not much else to say.

...a BIG Witcher fan myself but cannot help feeling bothered by some of the story/game aspects:

- Wild Hunt's just generic baddies..you don't really get to understand what makes Ereding & his goons tick..they're you know...just two dimensional sadly
- lack of clarification of Geralt's actions/time serving under the Hunt...what he did, why etc...
- Anais, Iorverth, Saskia, Princess Adda (at least a brief mention anyways) nowhere in sight
- what exactly did Ciri do to stop the Frost...who/what did she confront ...? elves, aliens, sith lords ???
- got really invested in Geralt and all but all you get after the whole Ciri-end boils down is ONE slide mentioning his fate veeeeeeery briefly...come on people...just no...

I remember being told Geralt was going out with a BANG.....so where the heck is it ??

Don't get me wrong, I love the game but the ending felt VERY R-U-S-H-E-D!!!

1. Ciri was ancient blood or whatever it is translated to in English. She used that power to stop the frost.
2. I don't think he was serving under the Hunt....
3. Wild Hunt, if I understood correctly, looks for Ciri becasue of her magical blood. I think it had something to do with exctinction of their own world or just craving for power to conquer new worlds. The sage elf is elaborating about that for ages.
4. Anais and others, you had a mention of that at the end of Witcher 2 :P
5. Use your imagination god damn it :P Why do we always have to get fully closed endings?

Anyways it might feel a bit odd but I wouldn't call it VERY RUSHED OMG!!!111.

I bet they will add more in the upcoming DLCs and expansions.

That's exactly it..I've been very invested in all the characters and plots in both W1 and W2..asking for a 2-liner mention about those characters (Iorverth, Saskia, Anais) isn't asking too much in my opinion...Take Sile for example, if you spared her, you got to see what becomes of her later on in W3...not very elaborate BUT it's enough. Even if it's a 1 minute conversation, it wraps up Sile's plot line. See where I'm going. Taking Anais for example, I would have expected handing her over to Natalis or Radoviv to have somewhat of an impact on the faith of Temeria strictly from this perspective.

I for one would have liked the Wild Hunt to be a little bit of a more well rounded villain(s)..especially Eredin himself who just gets built up as being this super big baddy but in the end his character kinda falls short.

As for the Elder Blood & Ciri, I can fully appreciate what you're saying but seeing how the game has you thinking that she's this all-powerful chick, I wanted to see what or who was waiting for her on the other side when she faced the Frost..(white walkers :P, dragons, etc)..

And the bit I found the most lacking is probably Geralt's closure. In regards to his relationship with Ciri, I can only say that it was very rewarding.. We got to see where it all led up to. However, on a more personal Geralt-centric level, we just get a brief mention (1 sentence in a slide) of him retiring. Would have been nice to get maybe a short cinematic or something just for him seeing how he's the main focus of this story (although W3 kinda deviated and shifted focus on Ciri...a bit too much for my liking).

Hope these things get addressed in future patches or DLC 'cause I feel it's kind of doing a disservice to the whole - we decided of closing of Geralt's saga with a big bang - thing. Thus far, no bang on Geralt's front..
