Lot of negative answers, then, I see. I guess I'll just stick to 1.06 and try my luck with the next patch. I assume there will be at least another patch, with all that's going on with this one. Thank you all for your answers. ^^
I've tried 1.07 for a couple of hours now and it works well for me so far, no additional bugs or anything. But i backed up 1.06 and my previous saves just to be sure ;-)
Nop it screw your saves. Also suddenly have been lost the category Scavenger Hunt Quests contain from the journal page. I just feel that I have lost 242 hours of game play because of the patch and in reality can't understand the logic why anyone is forced to update any patch in a single player game.

Nope. New saves not compatible yes, but old ones not to be converted

FuryMGS3: I've been waiting for that patch for a while now, and I stopped playing W3 just so I could take advantage of all the cool features announced where I left off. But nowadays, with all the sheanigans involving patches breaking more things that they fixed in games, I wanted to get some first impressions before I jump in. Especially considering all the trouble I went through to install the game in the first place. Don't want to do that again.

I'm having trouble getting feedback of how good the actual patch is, a lot of people seem to have problems downloading or installing it. I don't care too much about those particular problems, what I want to know is if the patch itself is any good. Is it working as intended ? Any effect on the performances ? Crashes ? Game-breaking bugs, or just new bugs ? Better or worse than 1.06 ? Or is it all good ? What are your impressions ?
I regret installing it and will be going back to 1.06 for now. At least I hope I will, I'm worried now that my savegames will be ruined after reading this thread.

The movement and UI improvements are awesome. But the horse movement isn't much better at all, horse still stops abruptly all the time. The really bad part is I see pop in everywhere, much much worse than before, and the shadows shift and pop and look funny in many places. Particularly noticeable riding across the island of spikeroog where I had left off before patching.

Performance seems about the same, but I have a fast card so i was over 60fps most of the time anyway.

Sorry zquarter to bother you, usually I am not starting conversations but I can't understand how it doesn't effect the old saves? I had as most of the people the quests Scavenger Hunt in 3 walkthrough saves and sudenly after the patch I don't have not only the quests but the whole category inside the journal page. I could see all the map marks and if I haven't visited a site with question mark and now I see just few approximately arround 10-12. How I am suppose now to track the witcher's armors and upgrades? When there isn't any related quest? I have tried to load previous saves but after the first autosave everything changes.
So I install 1.07 for my second playthrough and accidentally delete my saves from my first playthrough (good start eh)

Any who, progress is quick as I know what to do yada yada, yet the quest 'Family Matters' is now bricked, after finding you know who in the bog, one has to talk to the Baron about his family, the mini mission in the conversation does not trigger and all yellow talk options from then are gone, travelling to Oxenfert to track down the other suspect, the NPC is simply not there and I was not provided the quest item in order to go there in the first place. So all in all, 1.07 has bricked that entire story line, unless any one knows of a fix.

Game do not rewrite the old saves. Because no point in it. They just a files. New version game can load them because it posible to know what inside old ones. But older game can or somtimes can't load new saves because content changes.
You can rewrite them manually yes, placing new save on old one but game itself don't do that.

You can check modification file date fo save files c:\Users\_user_name_\Documents\The Witcher 3\ and see part before patch 1.07 was placed.
