Hi. I just purchased this game from here on GOG, and I was very taken aback with the odd installation method. The game seems to be split into 8 parts. I tried to install part 1 of 8, but was asked for "Select DVD #1" or something along those lines almost immediately after the installation process started. What does that even mean?
Before beginning the installation process, all Parts of the game need to be downloaded and placed in the same folder.

I've attached a view of my download folder for main game files, the newest patch and the german language pack (which you obviously don't need).

If you have the first ten files on that picture in your download folder, start the installation via double click on the executable setup_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_2.0.0.40.exe.

The .bin files are split parts of the installation archive, by the way and must be there or the installation will ask for the path where the parts are placed at (which is the notification you've got).

The reason to split up the installer would be decreased file sizes for downloads, I suppose. It is more troubling if you have to re-download a single 27 GiB file instead of a single one out of six 4 GiB files, one 3.2 GiB file and a 24 MiB executable, in case your internet connection fails at one point.

Thanks, but I see four parts to that patch. Is that...correct?

Which patch version are you referring to? The patch for V1.01/1.02 -> 1.10 has four parts, but that patch is only there for those who have the retail version, as their installation DVDs will stay at V1.01 of course. This patch already is integrated in the game files you can download right now, and only the patch for version 1.10 -> 1.22 is needed, which has two parts.
I would suggest that anyone who has the retail disc version of the game to redeem their code at https://www.gog.com/redeem and download the latest files from GOG. The disc version is the original release of the game and there have been many, many changes since then.
Use gog Galaxy. It also has the added bonus that it keeps your games up-to-date.
Maybe, but it could get even worse with this Beta client software. :p
