Ok, I'm panicking here, please someone help me. I generally think I'm good with computers, but I did something really stupid - I began messing around without backing up files.

I was seeing if I could unclutter my documents folder in windows, because I lot of games, including from gog, use that space to save files. I made a new folder "My games" than moved a bunch of the saved games into that. Then I launched the witcher 3, saw it had no saved games stored, so closed it. Then I used the undo button to move all the folders back to the original locations. Then I saw that there were no games saved in the Witcher 3 folder - it seemed that the computer saw that the same named folder was there already and didn't copy the contents over. I've done a few things since then and can't use the redo button. The files aren't in the recycle bin, and I can't think of anything else to do.

Is there anything I can do to recover my saved games? I've already sunk 40+ hours into it.

Thank you!

Download This

Act Quickly cause eventually if you download or your disk has allot of activity the files will be overwritten in particular when you're low on disk space. Good Luck to you Sir.

Downloaded it and ran it in my documents. Didn't pick up anything.

Do a full scan. It should come up with something . You can't be sure where the files ended up in in, might even be in your temp directory. Quick scan does not take that long. How long ago did this happen with you loosing the files? If it's been a while then there's still deep scan but that does take a while.

Witcher 3 save files arent located in MyGames folder. They are directly into the documents folder.

You are correct sir. Didn't even think about that as the OP already seemed to have located them. Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves to be precise.

Ha! I think it reappeared when I enabled restore file structure in the options the second pass over. Thanks! Want a cookie?

Yeah I know where they are supposed to be, the problem is I moved them :P
