Does it matter if I use quick or rmanual saves for the import? I hardly think so, but I'm just making sure, as I don't want to progress too much in the game to find out the import failed.

On that note, how do we actually know the import worked?

Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated.
I'd also like to know this.

I have my own question about importing, but it is different:

You would want to use the autosave that's done after the last major decision in Witcher 2. I don't think you can manually save after you make the decision but the game autosaves so look for that one.

-Edit- I don't know if there's a way to check if the import worked other than seeing if your previous decisions are true in the game (certain characters alive etc.). If it can't import, it should give you an error message.

Ah, it's helpful to know that autosave exists. I wish that the W3 import tool could identify it and at least offer that to be imported rather than giving a list of a bunch of other saves that would not be good to import... I'm reinstalling W2 right now so I can check to make sure I know the right save. I just still have to figure out if I have to restart the game to pick the correct save, at that point, or if I can pick a new save to import after starting the game (see the post I linked to in my previous comment - I'm 1.5 hours in and haven't met anyone that's spoken about my previous decisions).
