Hi there!

While I was near the coast of wrecks, I stumbled upon a group of drowners near some corpses, just north of the fast travel signal. I found the letter that start the quest, then, since it was well above my level (red skull), I put it aside for later. Having read the letter, I sold it with other stuff.

When I went back to the quest, it stuck at the beginning, telling me to read the letter I don't have anymore. I even went back to the spot where I found the letter, I found the treasure and looted it, but the quest doesn't complete and it's still stuck.

Any idea how I can complete it? Or at least, how can I get back the letter?

if you can remember the merchant you sold the letter to go back & buy the letter from them, read it & hopefully the quest will complete

Unfortunately, I don't remember who is it... is there a console in the game and a way to recover the item via it?
