szarlej1990: Hello all. Some time ago I started playing The Witcher on a new computer and since then I get a very strange error. In some locations (Skellige, forests), Geralt slows down a few steps for a second. It looks as though the game was loading a further map at this point. In addition, graphics work flawlessly in other places. I do not have any problems eg in Novigrad. I have an Intel Graphics UHD 620 graphics card and 32 GB RAM.
I will be very grateful for any hint.
Surfinjo: Your graphics card is quite modern, 8th gen, but lacks its own memory so shares the main memory. It is a good enough card but this is a laptop you're using so remember, it can get hot and needs a clear fan.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-UHD-Graphics-620-GPU-Review-Benchmarks-and-Specs.239936.0.html It really sounds like a faulty file. There are ways to repair it from the Galaxy
Galaxy>More>Manage>Verify/Repair
If you don't use that interface, you should just download and reinstall. If you have already played for a while, save your gamesaves file elsewhere first, they return it afterwards.
Another approach is to reduce your graphics demands.
Options>Video>Graphics
Reduce FPS to 30FPS for example willl reduce the loading enormously. (Most Hollywood films are produced at 28FPS! You really won't seem a lot of difference at 30FPS).
Background characters to low. It makes surprisingly little difference.
Set all the Quality settings to minimum or low. Start with minimum though.
Keep Detail Level to High though, if you can.
If you have any NVIDIA items like Hairworks, turn these off.
Options>Video>Postprocessing. Turn off everything.
These settings will reduce your loading enormously without causing you any significant loss of visual experience.
Good luck and get back to say how you get on.
