I have a computer with a C drive (SSD, 128 gb) and a D drive (1 TB). I was trying to solve a problem with my OneDrive and followed instructions to move it to my D drive instead of C, which worked. But I didn't realize my GOG Galaxy Witcher 3 save game files seemed to be located on it once I activated the OneDrive.
Anyway, I booted up The Witcher 3 after not playing for a while, and it gave me the "User settings reset to default" message, showed the Heart of Stone/Blood and Wine thank-you-for-buying screens, and now only gives me the option to start a new game.
I still have the actual save files on my computer. I see them under OneDrive>Documents>The Witcher 3>gamesaves. But when I try to move them back to my C drive, the game still gives me the same brand-new-startup messages and doesn't let me Load Game or Continue.
GOG Galaxy and The Witcher 3 are both installed on my D drive, but I know they save their games to C. Moving it around my various drives yielded the same result.
This was a couple of months ago that I moved the OneDrive and I only noticed this problem now, so it very well could be something else. Any idea how I can get my save files back? I've tried looking this up, but the problems other people are having are when they've lost all traces of the files, which, as I've said, are still on my computer.
