Hi,

I just recently installed the witcher 3 GOTY and when I launched the game It was stuttering and freezing, mostly during combat. Nothing horribly serious, but just enough so that I cant enjoy the game. I'm not sure why its doing this because I played this game about a year ago, on the same system with a gtx 750 ti and an i7 920 cpu and it ran pretty well with mostly medium-high settings. I upgraded to a gtx 1050 ti not too long ago and overclocked my cpu a bit (yes I know its an old cpu, but I was able to run the game). But now its stuttering and its just uncomfortable to play.

Can someone tell me what the problem might be? I've tried lowering my settings but it didn't really fix anything. Maybe I'm missing something? If anyone can help, that would be great.

How does the "onboard" memory of the gtx 1050i compare to the memory of the gtx 750i? More? Same? Less?

Are you using GeForce Experience? And did you turn on the VSync? The first is more often then not a giant troublemaker in and of itself. The second causes stuttering with better monitors.

Im not too good with graphics cards, can you can you explain what you mean?
Hi,

I just booted Witcher 3 after about a month of not playing and my game was also stuttering like crazy. Even though before that I played through the entire game just fine.
Yesterday I opted in GOG Galaxy beta and now I am running Galaxy 1.2.1. The first thing that came to mind was Galaxy overlay screwing with my game, and sure thing - disabling it fixes the problem for me.

Steps to reproduce - enable overlay, start witcher 3 game, press W to run and move the mouse around - game starts stuttering and trying to catch up with my mouse movement. Exit Witcher 3, disable overlay, run game - game runs fine with no stuttering.
In both cases Fraps shows 45-50 FPS.

i5-3350P, 8GB RAM, 1050Ti.

VSync is an ingame graphics-option for synchronizing your monitor with your graphiccards output...it's mostly an option for older monitors and makes problems for the newer better ones. GeForce Experience is a programm you get with your graphiccard. It...supposedly...optimizes your ingame graphics. It's an extra program and nothing directly to do with your game. But if you don't disable the programs attempts to "optimize" it can cause quite a lot of problems...unfortunately...
I turned off the overlay and put the fps limit on 60, dont know why it was on 30, didnt knowtice ealier. But now it runs really smooth on high settings.
