The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt patch log
Incorrect version of: D:\witcher 3\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\\content\metadata.store

This popped up when patching up from version 1.1 up to 1.3 and adding Blood and Wine. The game starts ok, and a look in the game folder shows the metadata.store file is indeed in my game content folder. Can I assume all is well if the game says it is version 1.3 and is running ok?? Thanks

No, don't assume that all is well. Metadata.store is VERY important, and if the game reads wrong information from it you WILL run into issues at some point. Completely uninstall the game via Control Panel, remove ANY remnants or the game, and ANY mods from "D:\witcher 3\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\", then re-download and install as per this order.
Thanks. But if I am starting over wouldn't I just have 3 downloads - base game vers 1.3, hearts of stone vers 1.3, and blood and wine vers 1.3?

I got the same error yesterday, forced me to uninstall whole game download it again and make fresh installation then it worked in 1.30 version
But won't GOG have the latest game version (1.3) as the current download? Or do they use an old 1.1 version and every new buyer has to install all the old patches? That seems odd if that's the case.

Check your Witcher shelf. You will see that the main game is v1.10 with patches to bring it up to 1.30, and the DLCs are v1.22 with patches to bring it up to 1.30. Just do it.
That blows, but thanks
What if you use the GOG downloader link and install the top file, above the patches? Wouldn't that be vers 1.3?

actually, I just used GOG galaxy to verify the game, and it replaced 1 file. Way easier
