Can't kill Nithral of the Wild Hunt. He has a shield. How do I get past this guy? How do I take down his shield?

Wound him enough, using Keira as distraction so he retreats, opens portal and puts up sheild.

Now ignore him (attacking the shield knocks you down). Kill the hounds he summons.

Rinse and repeat twice. Then finish him off.

Keira's spells will stun him periodically, and you can use Axii, or Aard to give you short attack opportunities as well. You can also dodge or roll behind him and get one attack in before immediately dodging away.

No, you do not understand. He never comes out of the bubble after I kill the hounds the first time. Before he went into his bubble, it was no contest. He did not fight back. I was just able to walk up on him and knock down his health. After I killed the hounds, I waited 20 minutes and he stayed in the bubble.

I have the same problem, Nithral doesnt fight, just stands there with his axe over his shoulder and when I have done a certain amount of damage he goes to the middle and stays inside a circular force field and nothing happens when I kill all the hounds... i have tried everything, really frustrated :(

Does anyone have a solution. The game seems to be stuck. I just downloaded the latest graphics driver. Made no difference. I submitted a Bug report. Hope they can help us.

Try going back to an earlier save. If you are running any Mods, get rid of or disable them.

The fight should start with a cutscene and progress to you fighting Nithral until he takes a certain amount of damage. Then he shelters in his shield until all the hounds are killed. This process happens 2 more times. If it is not happening like that for you then I suggest you reboot your PC and load an earlier save (without mods).
