Hi.

I seem to be having trouble with my X-Box 360 controller in The Witcher 3.

Everything worked perfectly when I used to play the game a few months ago, but since trying to jump back into the game, suddenly the left stick will not move Geralt at all, the A button brings up the menu rather than interacts with things, and generally everything is unplayably awful. As I said, the controller used to work perfectly, so I'm not sure why its freaking out and only partially working now.

It's particularly strange because I have no problem with my controller on any other game on my computer, including Steam and other GOG games.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but no luck.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hello,

I've got the same problem, so an answer would be nice - I've uninstalled-reinstalled the game too, but it didn't change anything.

Same here with the controller freaking out, has there been a fix to this yet?
are you using windows 10 / windows updates?

i have an xbox one controller with windows updates disabled. i grabbed the windows update kernel driver and user driver from windows update manually and the xbox one controller driver directly from major nelson of xbox team on day one. the download has since been removed and automated through windows update. my point is windows updates are probably ruining the stability of your systems.
I had an issue with my controller in Witcher 2. Windows 10 was the reason for the not accepted controller there.
What I did is mostly like what timmy did, I did deinstall everything there was, disabled the Auto-Update (for drivers) and installed the Xbox-Controller Update by Hand (but 1 version back, so not the newest). This worked, I also play Witcher 3 with this now and have no issues. You should give it a try ^^

have a look under windows updates for

kb2685813 - user-mode driver framework v1.11
kb2685811 - kernel-mode driver framework v1.11
xbox driver

this is going to vary depending on OS and how the components of windows were obtained so i can only post a guide at the very best. try to remove anything which is as above OR similar OR connected in some way such as security updates in direct relation to above.

you then want to install the bare minimum (varies by OS) generally speaking, those 3 or similar updates. this should be the basic you need to get it to function. if it works, apply any additional security updates. if something breaks, you'll know it's one of the security updates.

Yes, clean install of windows. I'm using an xbox one S controller contect VIA bluetooth. I play about a dozen other games the the controller function hasn't changed in those. Dead by daylight, PubG, fortnite and a few others.
