Ok, so I made a mistake when buying this on sale in that my processor is lower than minimum specs, enough that additional background actions causes everything to freeze up for a few seconds. As such I have to look to ways to reduce this load if I want it to work well and the current main culprit is the wind weather effect, which I'm not sure how to disable or even if it is possible to do so. If any of you fine people know of extreme reductions I can hammer in to make gameplay silky smooth without it looking like a cut price PS2 game that would really help me out.
What are your system specs?

not played the game since patch 1.10 [I think that was the patch [hearts of stone]]

I had everything on low, turned off post processing. the game ran fine, and looked good.

Phenom II X4 965 BE [not OC'd]
8GB Ram
GTX 750ti OC low profile
1024 x 768 [i have a very old VGA monitor]

All in all it looks nice until something happens, then it all freezes up for a few seconds. Audio continues unconcerned by this hold up, leaving cutscenes looking like something out of a dubbed kung fu movie.
What is your screen resolution? Your specs are certainly not good enough for consistent 2K play with demanding features turned on - most likely you will not get optimal performance in full HD either. Also make sure all of your drivers are up to date. You can easily turn off many of the graphics settings without the game looking that bad.

As an example here is a video of the game on the lowest settings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSCkJH6wzH0

Native resolution on the current monitor is a whopping 1360*768 which is what I belive it standards to ingame, though I have tried lowering that down to 800*600 for no real effect on issues given. Drivers are also up to date, and turning down the draw distance to its lowest is something I would rather avoid with trees and bushes popping out of nowhere.
Have you had a look at Nexus site they have some very good mods?

A good video and one which seems to be my unfortunate future, I was hoping someone would know how to turn off birds and moving trees as that is what my pc hates at the moment without forcing a drop in draw distance, I don't want to walk into enemies I shouldn't be.

I'll keep at it and if I discover amazing slav magic that will fix everything, I'll let you all know.
you have the same gfx card as I have. have you set physX to use your GPU. mine was set to CPU, you can change it via the nvida control panal. you can also make a profile for the game.

I admit I had not looked at that, in settings it was set to auto decide. I've now set that to use GPU and I'll give that a try once this patch has finished downloading.
