If i download the whole game the 8 x 1.10 files, i take it i only then need the 473mb patch, and not the 1.01 to 1.10 4 files as well ?

That's correct. The installer files are v1.10, so you will only need the 1.12.1 patch to bring you up to date. Be aware that you should also download the 1.12 DLC program and Hearts of Stone if you have it.
