It may have something to do with the new drivers. I haven't had any problems but see this report:

Than you for the response I have been going crazy about it and I was about to buy a new power supply thinking that could be the issue. As a matter of fact I have been getting thebad sppoler error mentioned in the article. I will wait a new driver to see if the issue is fixed. Thanks again.

It's probably why GeForce experience doesn't detect the game either now, they keep screwing it up, Witcher 3 has been hit multiple times now. The last driver made textures flash it was really annoying.
Have you tried rolling back to the previous driver? That should fix it until they release a fix.

I did rolled back to 416.94. I was getting the flash you mentioned but sadly it did not fix my issue completeley. After playing the witcher 3 for 3 hrs I did get a crash to desktop but it did not BOSD on me like it was doing. I tryed to check Event Viewer but it did not registered the crash when before it was giving me all sort of erros for the witcher 3 aplication. I will try a second PSU the one I currently own is over 5 years old plus I bought it as refurb in Ebay.

I have gtx 1080 and use driver 399.24, no problem here, maybe you should try this version too.
