Hey guys i need help I am stuck on this part..
when i walk up the stairs the scene doesn't start .. when i talk to her .. all the conversation is about the past .. not about getting the dvice to find the disturbance .. is there anything i can do to fix this please help

Are you sure you didn't receive the quest item? It should have been automatically equipped so if you go to inventory it should be there.
Have a look at the Wiki to check that you're doing it correctly.
