So how do I get around this? Assumed it meant there was an issue with the setup exe but have redownloaded that plus all the patch files three or four times now with no change so I guess it's something more techy than I'm used to so help appreciated - having this issue both on my laptop and desktop

Uninstall the game, re-download the 7 parts (game 1.06), re-install, apply patch.
