Hairworks is a very cool thing, I'm going to try and put it on, although I use AMD, running game in 60FPS at Medium preset right now, I think I could get a bit better with Nvidia though...Oh well! Game still looks great and is great fun!

Just you wait Nvidia...Deus Ex is coming, and Jensen's glorious AMD powered TressFX hair will blow Geralt's glorious mane right out of Kaer Morhen.
yeah but anyway its a devouring fps.. i took it off, even if i have a nice rig!
i turned it off as well. if i wanted to play at 30-40ish fps, i'll get a console.
Yeah, I tried to put it on...big mistake, even if I put it on just "Geralt" mode it goes to 30, without it I get 45-60
Getting between 50 and 55 fps all settings on high and HBAO+ selected, love hair works, game looks great. GTX 970, i7 4790k with 16 gig of memory
I was under the impression that Hairworks are nvidia only. I can understand that it may be too much for AMD cards as it is not optimized for them.
It is meant for nvidia cards, but even then...

The game is eating enough FPS on pre 9xx gen cards for "unknown" reasons already.

Well the unknown reason may be "not enough tessellation power". But if it does even without the Hairwork on then there is something fishy about it.
I found something that might help. I looked into the rendering.ini and there are lines that don't get added to user.settings.

Specifically this regarding hairworks: HairWorksAALevel=X

Add this to the user.settings file and put a number in the X, it will specify the Anti Aliasing setting for HairWorks. I just tried it at 0 and it looked horrible, I'm assuming performance will be lower though.
Hairworks on/off is about an 8-10 fps hit on a GTX980m. However I'm ok with ~30 fps since it's not a shooter anyway.
i disabled hairworks too, i cant stand fluctating FPS, its looking very bad, even with 30fps cap the game dosent feel smooth, only at stable 60fps

and i think that hairworks is not worth it, fps cost is huge
