Hey guys,

the back of the game manual that comes with the retail version of the game says under the GOG code itself that extra content is available and that one can redeem it by entering the code when starting The Witcher 3. However, no such prompt appears.

Am I missing something here?
try adding it on the website

You can also redeem it on Galaxy if you have it installed.
Alright, that worked. Thanks, you guys! Any idea what item one got for redeeming the code?
Nothing, all it did was give you the wallpapers, OST, avatars etc etc. All the usual extras that come with the game, unless it was a code for the 16 free DLC, in which case it auto adds them

Redeeming the GOG code for the game puts the game on your GOG library shelf which then includes the game itself, plus all of the bonus goodie items listed on the GOG store page for the game. There are about 10 or more bonus goodies including several HD videos, a 200 page artbook in PDF format, artwork, screenshots, avatars, comics. For those that bought the pre-order of the game on GOG there is also an off-site free Witcher comic from darkhorse comics. I might be missing something though so check the game store page for the game for full details.

The Free DLC pack is a separate product in the game catalogue that anyone can add to their cart and redeem free that adds those DLC to your account as they become available which is pretty cool. 2 of them have been released and 2 more are coming next week apparently. Altogether there are 16 free DLC coming.

Hope this helps.
Okay, thanks, guys. The game manual made it sound like you would receive some in-game item or the like if you redeemed the GOG code that came with one’s retail copy. Apparently that is not the case.
