IDK, somehow I completed it, and I didn't even know it was in my quest list... Just wandered around and killed some bandits, and looted their treasure. I wonder why yours isn't working?

I have to agree with Furretgamer. It worked for me no problem. Are you sure you visited all the bandits and looted all the possible chests?

Mhhh... I still get the 'Read the note you found' querry when selecting the quest and I read all quest related notes and books. I will go and check on all the bandit camps back in the first area.

My problem with that quest was that I looted BEFORE reading the letter and therefore the quest didn't even trigger. I had to load an old save file, first read the letter and then loot. Not exactly the OP's problem, but for sure Dirty Funds needs to be fixed (alongside Deserter Gold).

I guess it happened for me as well. Do you remember which chest it was? I rechecked my map and all my chests are looted or greyed out at least.

I somehow cannot post links...just make a YT search with "dirty funds mission" there's a 3 mins walktrough showing both letter and chest location on the map.
