Who the hell came up with this quest? Seriously?! It spawns you with two mages and six spearmen. The mages can kill you by themselves in a second. After the cut scene ends, they start attacking you and you have to wait literal seconds before you can do anything. The lightning staggers you immediately and takes off around 70% of your health and by the time you get into your inventory, you're lucky you're not dead. For some reason deuterium bombs doesn't stop them from casting their spells (great logic there). I'm playing on the hardest difficulty because I like a challange but this is bloody insane! And I'm level 39 before anyone asks in superior Ursine Armour. What the hell were they thinking? This is the first part of the game where I am so frustrated I'm actually making an angry rant post in the forums! Even the gruelling battle against Olgierd was a cake walk in comparison.
It is a frustrating fight -- no more difficult than many others, though -- until you stand back (figuratively speaking), take stock and devise where you are going wrong (you *are* going wrong). Without spoilers, forget the golems. Kill the mages... *quickly*.
The mages should be your priority. Strike, roll, strike, get out of range, repeat. You can also move up the stairs towards the spot where the owner of the mansion was hiding. They will stop agroing and it'll give you some time to recover.

The problem with the encounter, for me at least, is when the cut scene ends, I can't roll, attack or enter the inventory etc. It takes the game about two or three seconds before it'll let me do anything beyond walk about. By then, the lightning mage has already struck me and staggered me and I can barely dodge or cast a qwen before I'm dead.

Try improve your Aard, with a good blast of ice, things work very well.
Northern Wind bombs are VERY useful in this fight.

And yeah, the way the encounter starts right after the cutscene is a problem, similar to some of the fist fights. Sometimes you can't even move in time.
