yorktown1983: idk if u need one or not but if u have a dedicated physx card its not a problem ive found
kunkuno: I dont have one, i have a nvidia card somewhere, might give it a try just for the cloths and particles, but after seeing the hair in game, aesthetically, didnt like it, and the performance hit was too big.
You have to think that a lot of people dont have a nvidia card, dont have a extra card to use for physx, my computer is old, i7860, hd 7970, i can max everything and still get over 30fps, except for hairworks.
ofc, i would recommend turning hairworks off for most, its not worth the performance hit at all. my point was just that for nvidia users it does seem to take advantage of GPU physX, contrary to what ive read. so if you do have a physx card or an old card laying around, its worth trying hairworks on them.

Nirth: Someone mentioned here or at Witcher forums that HairWorks is actually FX Tessellation so a PhysX card won't help but SLI/CrossFire surely will (provided scaling works as intended).
I find the fur effect incredible but I'm not sure I like Geralt's hair.
well something is being run thru the GPU & it says my physx card is being utilized, i also run hairworks full @ 60, adaptive vsync & dont notice fps drops (im sure there is still a frame hit but its not reported where its unusable if you have only one card or a card + dedicated physx card)
