When I pull out my sword I would expect that I can immediately block/parry. This is not much problem for melee, but If you ran into archers which are pretty far, you cant dodge arrows. You just jumping like an idiot until you close to "get into combat mode".

Is this intentional or am I missing something?

One of the first abilities you can choose is the option to parry arrows with your sword.

I forget to mention it, I have this ability. Problem is you have to hold right mouse button and if you are out of combat, you are using Witchers sense.

I get you. Good question, I don't know if remapping the sense key would help, worth giving it a shot.

Tried and it doesnt help. Out of combat you cant dodge, roll or parry/block. If I pull out sword it should automatically put me in combat mode in my opinion.

Agreed, great suggestion mate. Here's a suggestion thread, pop it in there, maybe someone in charge reads it.
