I've finished the main story (Ciri as Witcheress) and the credits ran. After a summary of Radovid's fate, the game took me to the main hall of Kaer Morhen
At this point I want to start Hearts of Stone, but there seems to be no way back to Novigrad where the HOS story starts. Fast travel points don't work, and I can't ride off the Kaer Morhen map.
I'd like to continue with my current character. Do I have to start a new game or take some other step to get myself into HOS?

Apologies, if I offended you. Your previous answer did not work, so I thought perhaps I should rephrase it. I'm still stuck. Beginning to think that the fact I reached the end of the main game prevented me from starting HOS. If I start a new game I will be back to the bottom as far as points, gear, etc. I just want to get on with it.

You didn't offend me at all, but starting a new thread about the same problem only confuses the issue, especially if different people post in both threads with different advice. It's just not a good thing to do.

It's possible that the expansions are meant to be played before end game, but you still should be able to fast travel from the sign post just outside the fortress at Kaer Morhen. I've done it numerous times. This brings me to the question: do you have any mods installed?

I solved it. I repeatedly used the wrong sequence for fast travel. What worked (for me) was put Geralt at Kaer Morhen fast travel, open world map and click on Novigrad. On Novigrad map choose fast travel marker and click "fast travel here". I'm not sure what I was doing wrong before. My apologies for wasting your time.
