Hello everyone,

I am using the XBox 360 Wireless controller and it keeps disconnecting during combat (controller turns completely off). I tested it with the original fully charged Microsoft battery pack and then with fresh batteries. It happens only during combat, exploring the world and talking to people does not trigger the bug.

I am using the play & charge kit at the moment to prevent the bug from happening but it is really annoying to use it. Does anyone have the same problem? It seems that this is a rare bug since I haven't found a lot of topics about it.
Hey. I also have this bug ... just started to play with Xbox 360 adapter on my PC and every time during combat the controller turns off :(

I tried to switch my controller and I also used another usb port ... same result.
Try either switching your batteries (perhaps to a different brand), or if that does not work pulling the springs out a tad where they make contact with the battery pack. A bad battery connection in the controller is most likely the problem here.

I had this exact same problem as well (controller shutting off when in combat), and this is not the first time I have had it with a game. I took the batteries from my keyboard (a different brand of rechargeable batteries) and swapped them with the ones that were being used in the controller, absolutely no problems since.

I just found a solution that worked for me - just turn of "Vibration" in your game settings. Would love to play with it but I'll accept it ;)

It is the vibration that exacerbates the "not as tight as it can be" battery connection
The battery cover on the Xbox 360 controller is a really awful design, with all the weight of the batteries pulling it down and away from where it's supposed to be contacting and supplying power to the rest of the structure. It is notorious for causing problems exactly as you describe after enough use to wear down the spring-loaded locking mechanism. This is why they completely changed it to something more sturdy (and thankfully more compact) for the redesigned Xbox One controller.

I would tend to believe that the perception it only happens during combat is just a coincidence; maybe it also happens other times, but you don't remember it as well because you weren't in danger and weren't really affected by losing control for a second or two? In any case, one thing to try is taping the compartment shut to give it a little more strength so it doesn't wiggle loose as easily. Otherwise, I suggest investing in the new version of the controller ASAP, because aside from slightly different shoulder buttons that take some getting used to, it's better in every way. Especially the D-pad! The only downside is they don't have a wireless adapter for PC yet, but it's supposed to be coming soon.
