Point4Effort: I can't even play the game. It crashes about two minutes in after startup.
just turn off ray tracing and it wont crash ... but the update is pointless without it ... so huge dissapointment Red :(
Sorry how to download next gen update ? I cant find it here on GOG

It automatically downloads if you have the original GOTY Edition version.

Anyways, yes, both this AND Cyberpunk run HORRIBLY with raytracing enabled, even on my RTX 3070. DLSS makes no difference on either game. I even tried using FSR (which previously helped me on my old GTX 980) and yeah, no boost. Both CPU and GPU usage on both games are lower than they should be.

Hopefully CDPR patches the game in the next week to optimize stuff and get rid of that atrocious black border.

If anything, all of this has proven to me that it's a good thing CDPR is ditching REDengine for Unreal.
I'm getting a little worried about the direction CDPR is taking. There was again so much time to optimize etc. and still the game runs insanely bad even on the most powerful devices... First Cyberpunk 2077 and now The Witcher 3? A game from 2015. Crazy. :/

At this point, they should just close the studio and hand off all IP to the new Witcher studio that comprises the veterans they chased off during CP2077 development. It's painfully obvious that the only ones left at CDPR at this point are power-hungry cunts and a shitton of talent-less, pretentious, hipster boot-lickers.

You may be right. This is another black eye for them.
You always have the problem with everything, my game is running smooth, with I7 6700, gtx 1660, 144hz free-sync/g-sync monitor and 16 gb ram. This update its upgrade the witcher for most stable game and best game ever. If you wanna blame this game everytime, go play a Assasins Creed: Unity or other Ubi/EA/Rockstar Games who not have support and have a lot of bugs/problem. First you in review compliments the game, then when you play it you blame it. You know what it is:
Its your hypocrisy.
Just to add to the comments i just did a fresh install as the next gen update breaks my mod list,
Hardware is an overclocked i7 7700k with 16gb of ddr4, 12gb rtx3080 and the game installed onto a samsung nvme

At native 4k with dlss PERFORMANCE with all raytracing on and settings pushed to ultra+ i am averaging around 45fps with dips to around 30,
oddly CYBERPUNK runs better than this with everything pushed upto max at 4k with dlss

very weird

Also my 4k monitor aint anything special, its an old 60hz acer predator xb281hk (only bought for gsync)

If you have the goty edition the game should be renamed to the complete edition. If it's not the goty edition it'll be listed as just The Witcher 3: Wild hunt on gog galaxy. You get the goty edition for free anyways if you own all the dlc. There's no difference between these two versions.

The question is what's smooth for you. :D But good joke, I like CDPR but they haven't had a good reputation the last XXX months, it all started since Cyberpunk 2077 was released. Ever since I've been watching all the forums since last night regarding the Next-Gen update of The Witcher 3, 95% of players have problems with even the most powerful build. If you're trying to defend the failure of the developers, then who's the hypocrite here. I don't mean that in a bad way. :)

You may not have a problem but quite a few people do. Poor optimization, dlss literally doing nothing, the anti aliasing options being awful or not working properly. The game looks pixelated on TAAU and FXAA for some reason. The TAAU works in the dx11 version so it's an issue with the dx12 render. We can certainly complain about other games having issues and complain about this game too. You can review a game and think it's great but still point out it's flaws you encounter later on. None of this is hypocrisy. Honestly I doubt you know what that word means by how much you've butchered the meaning. The fact of the matter is this game will need to get a few patches to hopefully optimize and fix the issues plaguing the remastered version. That this game now runs worse than cyberpunk 2077 is crazy to me.

GalliCZ: Hi, I want to ask if I'm the only one having a big problem with FPS and general game performance after the Next-Gen update. I own an RTX 3060Ti, i7-10700K and 32GB RAM and I'm playing at 1920x1080 resolution. Before the update my game was running beautifully at 120+ FPS... Now? For example, in Novigrad my FPS is only around 55 FPS... seriously? In order to even get at least that 100 FPS in Novigrad with that build, I have to lower the graphics settings to Low? Anyone else having similar problems? Or is it just me for a fool. And I should point out that I always have Ray Tracing turned off.
i have rtx 3090 and Ryzen 5900X. With ray tracing in novigrad only 42fps :D:D:D
Adding to the pile: I too have performance issues --- running on an i9-11900KF and an RTX3080. Fraps shows me something around the 55fps mark with everything turned on (3440x1440 resolution) but this feels nowhere near smooth. Surprisingly even with GSync enabled this doesn't even come close to being playable.

I am stunned tbh - after the Cyberpunk desaster CDPR released yet another unoptimized game. What in the hell were they thinking? Stuff like this doesn't really do much for their fanbase.
I wonder if there will be an update that will fix the performance of the Next-Gen game. I wouldn't mind playing at about 80 FPS. But if the game drops down to 30 FPS it's terrible. I'm a PC gamer, if I want to play at 30 FPS I play the game on console... I'm really glad there's an option to switch the game to the classic 1.32 version.
