Antimateria: Edit: You mean that ballista when you are looking from telescope or that one where you have to press rapidly some button?
avatar
Hamon: yeah, that's the one
Err.. That didn't say much. =)
I assume that you meant the last one.
Anyway.. I just went trough the ballistas. Didn't have any trouble with the one that needed the rapid button pressing. But oddly enough.. The one with spyglass, my controller didn't move that one, as in I couldn't aim with the controller. I could shoot though, just aiming didn't work. Well mouse worked fine without changing to keyboard method. Well, it was more accurate and didn't bother me but it was still odd.

Hamon: With Patch 1.3 installed there seems to be a problem in some dialog sequences. At the siege camp when talking to the dice player I couldn't choose any dialog option nor was I able to go for the main menu. Neither gamepad or mouse/keyboard were working and I had to close TW2 via the task manager. Some time later (while ignoring the dice player) something similar happened in the sequence where you have to aim and shoot the ballista. Gamepad wouldn't work and I had to swap to mouse. Anyone else got this?
I had exactly the same thing happen to me at the same place....the Dice Poker player. After placing my bet, he upped the bet and I couldn't do anything from that point except exit the game via the Task Manager. This wasn't a problem on my first run through the game and only now surfaced after Patch 1.3. I also have no mods installed at all.

sorry, I just read the first half of your sentence. ;P And the same issue with the gamepad not working while the mouse does, happened to me either.

Yeah I just had to kill TW2 via task manager because of dice prologue bug. Sigh.

I just tested it again. It worked correctly. Then again. It worked correctly. And one more time. Bug again, task manager needed. It is really random, which is why I did not encounter it in my first playthrough.

I am always playing with wireless x360 controller, no idea if it happens with mouse and keyboard?

AudreyWinter: I think that first dice player in the camp has always been glitchy, the problem with the missing buttons were there all along. And it's completely random. I just had to kill the game, just like the OP. Reloaded and it worked. I guess as long as it's not breaking the game, it's not a major problem.
It could be major problem if someone didn't save their game before playing dice poker. Now i always save my game before doing any mini game.

Yes, I remember seeing this as well (it sometimes happens with other dice players, also), but it has never made me unable to click the buttons or use the keyboard - for me, it's more like the icon itself just doesn't show up, but it's still there, so to speak.
I also celebrated too soon. Indeed dice bug is random. That weird monk in the flotsam inn corner also showed no buttons and next time did. At least fist fight shows the buttons and is much more entertaining than in first witcher. Cool game but those dices.. Yeah, better to always save before playing. It wouldn't be so bad if you could get out without killing the game (obviously).
Oh well.. Guess I'll go play some more.
When I was doing dice tournament yesterday in Flotsam, I simply used mouse and keyboard for it. Not a single bug. After I won it all I switched to gamepad. Much less painful this way :-).

I don't want to be unkind. But that's not really solving anything, really. I can't see the point doing workarounds when this happened to work for me earlier.

I'd rather like to see if CDP is aware of this issue.

I agree it should get fixed, but in the meantime using keyboard and mouse is not a problem. Just a minor inconvenience, really.

I just noticed that this problem indeed seems to be random though it always happens when I try to play the dice game for the first time after starting TW2. I noticed this when I played with keyboard+mouse on the first game the buttontext to proceed was missing but I could click it with the mouse or use "space" to proceed.

On the second game (directly after the first) I could see the buttontext when I restarted TW2 and tested again it was the same. Sadly I couldn't test it with the gamepad as the interface ALWAYS locks up for me, might test to play the first dice game with keyboard and mouse then switch to gamepad and check but I haven't the time to do so now...

*hopes this helps CDPR to pinpoint the problem*

It seems developing and maintaining game is very tedious work (no sarcasm). With each new patch, there will be something else broken? Any insight from expert why this happen? I need to understand this industry well because i might further my study to IT / Networking related field.

When your game runs on new engine built of millions of lines of code, it is pretty hard to make it flawless. But these are bugs that should have been caught by testing - it is strange that they were not. All it takes is playing the game with gamepad for 10 minutes.
I can only confirm this bug. The Witcher 2, 1.3 patch, no mods installed, X360 wireless controller. I could place first bet, roll (but still don't know how) and then all I could do was selecting dices to roll again. There was no other options, no other buttons/keys were working. The only solution was to kill the game from task manager and switch back to mouse/keyboard controls.
I can confirm I am getting this bug as well, was quite annoying actually, because I was doing a live stream of the game to show people how good it was; but then this happened and I had to manually end the process, and then the game crashed twice in an hour :/
people were not impressed

I don't really understand how they broke the gamepad in dice poker though, it worked fine before, and I don't remember the patch notes mentioning anything to do with either

do CDprojekt read these forums? or is there somewhere else I should post to help raise their awareness of bugs like this?
