Forgive me for my upcoming rudeness. But I am currently very annoyed.

I thought this was meant to be a "high quality" title!
Bug riddled trash is my current opinion and another of my "1-star FAECES" reviews may well be on the cards.

What has just happened to me here? I'd got attacked by that troll near Flotsam.
The game's UI borked. UTTERLY.

Press "J" for journal, all I got was a blank black screen.
Ditto when pressing "M" for map. Ditto when pressing "I" for inventory. When trying to use the medititate function, nothing showed. When pressing escape to access the save/load/quit menu, nothing. Any kind of HUD or screen overlay or text or anything was gone.
The game was still running, I could still move Geralt around, but I could not talk to anyone, use my inventory, meditate, make potions, use shops, not even SAVE or even QUIT normally.

There was but one option, <ctrl-alt-delete - Task Manager> and force quit.

The idiots who made this also deemed us unfit to have "autosaves".
Because of this I lost all progress since previous save.

The sticky of "known bugs" did not seem to mention this. Is this a new one? Or is the game just a pile of overrated crap? The number of bugs listed in that sticky is very discouraging.

So, anyone know what happened here? How to fix it? I'd be more than happy to hear......

Rant over.

Hi JMayer.

My guess is that you might have connected/disconnected a controller or USB device (mouse. keyboard) during gameplay, multiple times or that your keyboard layout was switched to a secondary language you might have installed (not UK or US English) and there might have been a certain amount of Alt+Tabbing involved.
You could try to avoid the frequency of such disruptions in the future, since there are only so many "hickups" a process can stand, before signs of instability start to show up.
Otherwise, I can't really make any other deduction at this point.

Also the game has a built-in, non desableable, autosave function that triggers every time you transit through different areas (gates, building doors, map sections, checkpoints), as well as when you progress side quests or the main story.

Cheers.

Hi, I did find out in the end what caused it. It was the "H" key, as it's next to "J" I must have pressed it accidentally when hitting "J for journal". "H" should just disable to "HUD", but it disables ALL text, including the save/load/quit menu, inventory, meditation screen etc!
