I'd be OK with a deadline as well (say 2 month after release) when CDPR comes out with a patch to remove all DRM. At that point the majority of the sales already happened, and who wanted to pirate the game already did, so there is no point in using DRM any longer (not that there is now, but that is another story).

This was asked for some time back without getting an official response, but no harm in repeating the request!

You can get witcher2.exe and paul.dll from GoG version, replace those files with the D2D version or the retail version, and there you go, you got the GoG version. The game will load much faster, and you'll gain more FPS if you have a dual core or a Quad core CPU computer. Go to gamecopyworld.com search for The Witcher 2, then select the link under 'Game Fixes', then download the file that says "done by GoG" And yes this works, I have the D2D version and my game is loading much faster, and I have gained about 10FPS on a quad core computer.

One of the developers posted in the comments section of The Witcher website supports doing this if you have a license to the game. Do you use that same idea for everything you buy in life?

You must be from the UK, because they are the only ones getting that price. Everyone else in Europe has to pay the 45 euros, but they get in store credit back for the price difference. I changed it to US, but so what? Not that they lost a lot of money, since they gave GOG credit's to everyone who paid the full price anyway and they have to pay for the licenses they are selling.

It isnt up to the developers, as GOG are the ones distributing it it is up to GOG as from a legal standing they are the only ones allowed to distribute that specific file.
