So if you upgrade to these..
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 6870 1GB
Power Supply: 750 watt Thermaltake TR2
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit + Office 2010 Starter
Could you verify that this configuration will run Witcher 2 on medium-max settings comfortably?

I wasn't able to follow your link, but it looks like the right way to go.

You didn't list the CPU, but you want at least a Sandy Bridge Core i5 (2400, 2500, or best of all the 2500K) or AMD Phenom IIx4 (955 or better).

I would get a different power supply if I could. Thermaltake TR2's are outdated and not high quality, and you don't need 750 watts anyway. What alternatives do they offer?

The 6870 should be good for at least High settings. Maybe not Ultra, and definitely not with Ubersampling enabled. You have to have high expectations and sharp eyes to see the difference between High and Ultra, though.

AMD Athlon™ II X4 640 CPU (4x 3.00GHz/2MB L2 Cache)
700 Watt -- Standard
750 Watt -- Corsair CMPSU-750AX
750 Watt -- Corsair CMPSU-750TXV2
So you're saying that a little higher end video card would be able to handle Ultra settings?

AMD Radeon HD 6950 - 2GB?
Thanks
That CPU is good for a mid-level rig but not for the top of the line, so I am not sure I would be trying for Ultra with it, even with a top-of-the-line graphics card. The 6850 or 6870 is a good match for it, and you'll get High settings and probably never notice the difference. You won't get playable Ubersampling on any single-card setup anyway.

If I read ibuypower's configurator right, you can get a Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2 for only $2 more than the Thermaltake. It is a much safer choice, and 650 watts is more power than that supposedly 750 watt Thermaltake can deliver anyway.

You might also consider upgrading that CPU to the Phenom IIx4 955, too. I think the difference is only $20, and you can make it up with a less expensive case. The Phenom II has L3 cache (the Athlon II doesn't) and is quite a bit faster.

Thank you - So this conjfiguration:

Phenom IIx4 955
Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2
AMD Radeon HD 6870 - 1GB
will run max, or just medium?

Much better than Medium. High, possibly Ultra. Not maximum, if maximum implies Ubersampling.
It all depend what frame rates you consider acceptable too.

My system will run the game on max settings without uber and get 20-25 FPS. Take out SSAO and a few other things and I gain 10FPS, for not much quality loss on the texture or shadow side.

Being able to 'run' something and run it how you want to are different. Need to know what your desired frame rate is.

Thanks for the advice - so this configuration
Phenom IIx4 955
Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2
AMD Radeon HD 6870 - 1GB
This is what will run The Witcher 2 at high, perhaps ultra.
Just trying to be sure before I actually buy ...
Thanks for the advice
I have a
E8400 (OC'ed to 4ghz though)
Radeon HD 6870 1GB as well.
I can run Witcher 2 well enough with all settings maxed except Uber ofc.
