^Yes, i might have paniced and jumped the gun for a sec there, not knowing what he worked with on TW2.

According to this poster (top):

He was in PR and Marketing with Witcher 2, so might not effect the gameplay at all for future projects. =)

But i still wish him the very best whatever he decides to do next. He was the face (pr) of the witcher for certain.

Zhijn: Wooha.
This remind me of a similar situation with BioWare's former lead designer Brent Knowles (DAO). Dragon Age went to shit after he left. Eeek.

Hope that wont be case this time around tho!.
Only Gop wasn't lead designer, just pr guy I think. Wonder why he left.
Saddened to see him leave. I wish success to him in the future as well. I will miss his humor and presentations.

Edit: Are "sz" and "k" interchangeable in Polish spelling? Are we sure the linked in page is actual and factual? Could this be someone else making this page? I wish I could read and understand Polish and then I might have fewer suspicions. Could he be leaving this production team and then going to another production team still in CDP? Is it too early to hope there will be another Witcher installment? Yes I am all full of questions now.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, people telling all kinds of stuff and you don't know what is true...
Yes, he did PR, but he was also the frigging producer of the game! No, I didn't make that up, watch the credits.

I'd say his leaving might greatly effect the future of our witcher.
And it makes me really sad. As someone said, he was the face of TW2 for us for years. I will be missing him. :'(
my stomach kinda stirs when i read this news and recent developments over the past year. When pieced together, i kinda feel alittle worried...but cant put my finger on it.

That's right, he was the producer...and I'm afraid it means the end of The Witcher as we know it.

All we know is that he left because of some personal reasons: he felt "burned- out and tired", but there's no official statment so far

If you had friend with name Catherine you call her Cate isnt it?

Its same with Tomasz - Tomek. :)

On polish site he (Tomasz Gop - if it was him) wrote that it was private matter not personal or proffesional. It probably was burn out but maybe imo he want new challenge :)

I wish him good luck.

thanks for clearing up that question. If he is leaving, then, Yes I truly hope he will find his next assignment challenging and fulfilling.
Sad to see that.

But on the other hand, it was 4 years of hard work only on Witcher 2 (not only the game, but also the whole engine). Managing a 4 year project with so much hype and expectations around it - it can wear you off. There were some rumours about the tense atmosphere in the team, at one point they were laying off some devs plus I heard of some kind of "workaholic ethics" in the studio. Add to that trying to manage a whole bunch of real individuals - from developers to art staff - and you have a solid burnout/family trouble recipe.

Anyway - good luck and thanks for the hard work to Tomasz, hopefully The Witcher franchise stays strong. And maybe one day we'll read: "Tomasz Gop returns to CDPR to work on the WItcher 3" ; )
sometimes after pouring your heart into a task and completing it, you just wanna do something else for a while. totally understandable.
Best wishes Tomek, wherever you go and whatever you work on.
if he is just the pr guy, then it is cool.

good luck to him.

It's also stated at this LinkedIn page.

That's right he was the producer...I hate to see this. I'd like to think he's just taking a break. It was so clear the passion he had for gaming.

Good luck to you Tomasz, whatever you decide. And CDPR will have a tough time replacing him.
Oh man, he has been THE GUY for anything Witcher 2 related as far as I can remember. Sad to see him go. :'( But best of luck to him in whatever he plans to tackle next. :)
