AstralWanderer: I would also ask for all patches and updates to be made available as separate downloads. Not doing so punishes and inconveniences those who do not have a satisfactory Internet connection on their gaming system (which can occur for several reasons including choice, location and vocation), it makes everyone else's copies reliant on CDPR/GOG's servers remaining online (and we know GOG never goes offline, right?) and it costs CDPR/GOG more in the long term due to multiple downloads (per install, rather than per user).

Not providing such an update is not only unlikely to deter software piracy but would almost force those who are concerned about game longevity to acquire it from unofficial sources (as is the case with DLC currently).

As for those commenting on performance, have you used tools like MSI Afterburner to check on video card memory usage? I'm seeing it max out a 1GB Nvidia 460GTX on (mostly) high settings, something which I've only seen with Crysis (and that was with 4xAA at 2560x1600). With settings at Ultra it would seem unlikely that even the reference top-end Nvidia cards (1.5GB) would manage (though Palit/Gainward do offer cards with double the VRAM).

In comparison, the most system RAM I've seen Witcher 2 use is 1.3GB.
Oops - missed Vitor121796's post about a manual download being made available. If so, then many thanks CDP!

jlibster: Excellent Points! You may enjoy knowing that several GOG gamers have ALREADY gone to pirate links to get DLC they could not get with the in-game installer. (including myself but I haven't scanned my file for viruses/trojans yet as I haven't installed the game...waiting for the patch) Had CDPR done what you suggested, it is probable that these victims wouldn't have had to risk using pirate site files to get promised content for a legal purchase. One could argue that DLC isn't a vital component, but we were all told registered people would get the DLC (not Expansion packs) free and GOG people are technically already registered. Given the Witcher 2 world is by all reports smaller than Witcher 1 people were eager for additional content. Can't even register manually via the site, although there are links in the upper right corner with blank targets (what's with that...?) Some speculation by gog members that after patch 1.1, other patches may only be avalable through official channels through the in-game downloader. Would love to hear from CDPR that ALL patches will be available through manual links via their website. But no such promises yet. Only the upcoming patch has been mentioned to the best of my knowledge.

djlethal: Actually, on my system, Witcher 2 uses about 2.6 GB of RAM. Sometimes a bit more.
1920x1080, Ultra, AMD HD6970.

Also, my video card has 2GB of RAM, and it can handle the "Very Large" texture size, however it puts a LOT of stress on the rest of my system. I don't think it's very well implemented. I don't think it's very well implemented.

Also, I too want standalone patches. I've been having the problem with the DLC, frustrating.

jlibster: Its probably the SecuROM. Reports indicate that people with the DVD/Steam versions (which have SecuROM) have lost significant FPS. Told the patch will improve (but not entirely eliminate) that.
Steam version has no perfomance issues. At least for me.
Internal tests of Patch 1.1 are well under way. Our current target is to release it this evening. Please note that although we are doing our best to have it ready by then, the time still may change in order to be completely sure that the patch will function properly. This is our primary concern since there are significant changes and upgrades that will affect many users.

1. Simpler and more reliable game installation and activation. Details to be revealed soon.

2. Fixed the free Troll Trouble DLC download. It is now included n the patch so there's no need to download and install it separately.

3. Fixed an issue that prevented some users from downloading other free DLCs (the ones given out with some pre-orders, special promotions, etc). The launcher now properly refreshes the list of available DLCs and allows for installation.

4. Performance improvements: approximately 5% to 30% better framerate and faster game loading for many users, depending on their individual systems and game versions. Owners of retail versions can expect the biggest improvements.

5. Fixed random crashes occurring on some systems, especially after saving and loading saves.

6. Key mapping – allows the arrow and number keys to be used for movement.

7. Added the option to invert the mouse.

8. nVidia surround vision now works properly.

9. More accurate assessment provided by the "auto-detect settings" option will help improve game performance.

10. Removed a bug that prevented completion of the “Blood Curse” quest.

11. Fixed a bug that prevented the additional link in "Extras" from being unlocked after winning the dice game against the GOG.com monk.

12. GOG.com credits now work properly.

The full list of all changes will be available upon the release of the patch. If you have experienced any issues that are not on the list above, please don't worry. We have already started working on the next patch, which will address other difficulties and bugs, including those related to specific hardware setups; e.g.. Logitech g35. You may expect this second patch to be ready next week.

Patch 1.1 will be available for all the versions of the game, both retail and digital, except for Russian. However, we would like to assure our Russian fans that we are aware of the problems with the your version of the game (thanks for your reports!) and we are talking with 1C about possible solutions.

Awesome! CDP coming through!
@Marcin360
Thanks for the information about the patch!
Thanls for all the information. I'm sure you're all very busy fixing bugs and launcher DLC problems have top priority. But I would still like to know if 1.1 fixes the >1920 desktop resolution problem as it has been only one really bothering me. Since you said that hardware specific bugs are on next one I guess I still have to wait for it to get fixed.
Thanks for the update!
next week for the sound fix?

I knew I should've bought brink instead of this :/
Sounds great! Thanks for keeping us updated.

I am glad I bought this instead of Brink.
Disappointed to see no mention of the looting issues. As someone who obsesses over never missing loot it's infuriating to not be able to target a lootable sack or shelf and having to skip it.

Also suprised to see no mention of the lack of storage and weight issues. I know there's a mod for it but it seems to be one of the biggest complaints i'm seeing for the game.

You should have bought Brink instead because it's a better RPG game? You are in a forum for an RPG game, not an online FPS game that has no content or anything original. Oh wow, it has the smart move when in practice doesn't actually make movement faster or cut down on anytime from the traditional jump over it or slide under. Plenty of online games now have slide feature.

Anyway instead of whining and complaining why don't you try learn some coding and discover what it takes to bug fix and patch a enormous game like Witcher 2 before running your mouth like an infant.

There is no looting issue. Learn to use your mouse and direct Geralt in the proper direction.

The weight issue is not a problem. That's an RPG feature. Geralt is of normal human size. Carrying around 300 KG of weight is enormous already. And iron ore does not weigh a feather, it has actual weight. Again it's RPG, it's not a bug, and it's not a problem.

As for players complaining over it, screw them. Seriously screw them, they are mods out there for those who want to take the easy road. If they won't want to learn to manage their items and understand Geralt can't carry 500 iron ores, then just tell them to go download the mod. There is nothing wrong with the game on that feature.

Lack of storage? Obviously CD Projeckt intended it to be that way. They continuously emphasize making decisions. This obviously forces players to make decisions even with their inventory. And really, if you have problems with making decisions, then just use the mod. Other players who enjoy and appreciate RPG features and decision making shouldn't have to suffer because a few are too lazy to make decisions.

Marcin360: 6. Key mapping – allows the arrow and number keys to be used for movement.
This is nice, but eventually I hope to be able to map any key I want, like the C key, to any of my abilities/items. Modifiers, like Shift and Control, would be great too.

Yes, there really is a looting issue. The issue is that it's a pain currently to aim and interact with highlighted objects. It is very finnicky, and if items are too high, but they glow, it doesn't matter geralt can't interact with them. Some items glow but nothing comes up at floor level too! This isn't correct.

As for the weight, I agree mostly but certain design choices like the designs should not take up weight. While you can't loot everything, it certainly has areas to improve on. This isn't about being realistic, this is about being fun. It's not fun to micromanage a list inventory, thats why "inventory tetris" which is more of a pain on the consoles, is a popular thing on the PC.

Just give us a storage chest in each "central" point of the Act so we can have the best of both.

Based on your post history, you'll whine about Brink fix and bug too. That game is not free of bug.

The storage size varies with different equipments. Beside don't collect too much common item such as cloth, iron ore or whatever you can buy easily from the stall. You should change your obsession by changing your mindset.
