So, after getting absolutely slaughtered by a certain quest involving human combat in chapter 2, I decided I needed a better blade. I went and bought a diagram from the blacksmith, but whenever I tried to get him to craft it, the item would never appear in my inventory. I tried reloading and retrying many times, but it never worked; all of the orens and materials were gone, but no sword.

Any else have this problem?

I would suggest asking support from developers. If possible you can send them a saved game.

Don't count on that. They are quite busy right now, I suppose. :)
And sending a saved game will really help.
