Well, this is not a bad game at all. Somehow, I get the feeling it hasn't been properly finished / tested just yet, because some things appear to be botched. Spoilers from here on, READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL ETC ETC ETC.
I'm in Flotsam right now. Successfully did the Incense quest when I noticed the angry mob gathered in front of the incense merchant's shop, right next to the inn/brothel; after a chat, they convinced Geralt to help out by driving the man out of town, since he's a no-good drug dealer and all. Problem is: whenever I convince him to pick up his stuff and leave I am treated to a black screen. Life goes on in the world, I can hear Geralt walking if I press WASD, but I can't see a thing, I can't revert to the game menu, I can't do a thing about it. Got everything on min/disabled, too, that didn't help. Restarted a number of times, updated video card drivers, cleaned various caches: it doesn't seem to be solvable from my end. That's just a minor quest, tho'.
Right now poor Geralt just got up from a crazy night alongside the Blue Stripes, no equipment in sight. I'm told to find Madame Margot - easy enough, right? Game guide says she's in the brothel, right above the inn - no such luck there, there's just some she-elf whom Geralt can't interact with in the brothel and the working girl standing outside the brothel just gives a small greeting. The quest marker seems to place her somewhere inside an outer wall or something. No problem, I said, the guide says the equipment's in the Stripes' house - but Ves won't talk about it and, in checking the coffers by the windows, where the guide says Geralt's gear is, one has some random loot and the other one's locked. Can anyone help me with this part? It's almost game-breaking; I'm not going to just buy some paltry equipment and forget about the whole thing.
The quest with the she-troll also has some problems on my end; I beat the poacher at poker after having received said quest, we talked about where he got the head, but, even if we decided we'd roll a few rounds for the head, there was no dialog for requesting it and Geralt didn't obtain it after beating the man. I still managed to kill Dmitri and complete the quest just the way I wanted, letting the big drunk live and avenging his wife's killers, so that wasn't a major problem. The previous two, however, are rather annoying. Quite so.
