Do you get to keep anything you gather during the flashbacks? or should you just grab the quests and plow through that part without looting everything you come across?

Yes, you keep it. But it might put you over weight before you can offload it.
well the way i do the quests i get the strong back perk so i have enough carry weight, was just unsure if you kept stuff from the flashbacks or just from when you start to bust out of prison
I still overloaded with Strong Back.
bump, anyone know about flashback items? :)

As already mentioned by Taleroth, you do keep everything. But everything can weigh well above 300 (I was at 351, but I think the exact loot is random), so even with Strong Back you'll be overweight.

To clarify - you end Prologue with only items from the dungeon escape, but start Chapter 1 with everything you looted in the whole Prologue, including flashbacks.
