Ok, so after much frustration with GIMP (my faithful Oblivion and fallout companion ), I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop cs5, so I guess I now have 30 days to edit all the Witcher textures I can :) .... anyway, I have a question about normal maps.

When I open a normal map in GIMP, if I use the eraser tool at say 80% opacity, I get a result like the attached picture, which is actually geralt_c1_s.dds after erasing @ 80%.

If I do the same thing in cs5, I get something that like looks like I painted over a white brush @ 75% opacity.

If I open the GIMP-edited geralt_c1_s.dds in cs5, instead of getting a normal map that looks transparent like pic1, I get an image that looks just like the vanilla geralt_c1_s.dds.

Could anyone please tell me how I can get pic1 from geralt_c1_s.dds in cs5?

Thanks!

You will have to save the image to your desktop to see the effect.
