China forced their prisoners to play World of Warcraft to mine gold so it could be sold on the Internet for real cash ...

Really!?

Not W2 related, but crazy indeed.

More like jerk prison guard forces prisoner to do the dirty work in his gold farming operation. It's not like the Chinese government set the whole thing up ;)
Would you prefer they use them to build roads?
I could use a chinese slave to grind my World of Tanks account.

If you read the article, they work 12 hours in labor camps, building roads and such, then are forced to play WoW.
Reading articles is for sissies.
The only thing interesting is what's always been interesting about gold farming. They make so much money, and that means despite all the constant negative talk about how bad buying gold is, apparently many, if not most, MMO addicts say one thing while doing another...so to speak. ;p

Another issue in a long line of problems stemming from private people profiteering on the huge socio-economical changes and consequent anomie of values happening in Mainland now.

About the prisoners - That is pretty terrible, I hope the issue has been alleviated by the central government.
