Probably both. But balance tweaks are indeed part of the patch - especially the prologue is rebalanced, afaik.
yea i thought it was the patch..its very changed.. i found it soo hard that prologue but just did it than so easily...

the new dlc items really do make it easier aswell as there alot more advanced than the stuff i had on my first playthrough..

does the insane mode change it back to normal >?

Only the prologue feel changed because now your attacks hit more than 1 target without that sword talent that let you attack multi targets at the same time

I'm not sure about how much harder insane mode is, or if the balance tweaks apply to it (I guess they do), but with death = end-of-game, that's probably not a worthwile alternative to hard.
Anyways, after the prologue you should be back to the old difficulty experience, since they primarily inteded to tweak the prologue and thereby flatten the learning curve.

For starters you could remove the preorder DLCs by deleting the respective .dzip-files from the The Witcher 2\CookedPC folder if they make stuff too easy for you.
okay ive now done alot more than i did before..

this game is severely been changed.. im finding it WAY easier than my first playthrough on normal.. less creatures to kill/no more random creature spawns in certain places..

anyone else seeing this ?
I find my playthrough on Insane easier than my first playthrough (i did it on Hard), not counting Operator boss and neckers in 1st chapter @ lvl 7 (there are too many of them, and they almost oneshot me). It's because it's the same game.
