I will try to provide feedback as I am progressing in the game, refraining from spoilers, just to deliver my raw impressions.

So far, I am genuinely enjoying the game. I haven't reached the first big tentacled baddie (you'll know who it is soon enough), but I sure am getting closer.
The graphics are lush and gorgeous, even on medium settings on a computer that is (way) below the recommended configuration. My hat is off to the art direction of CDProjekt!
The story seems deep, and is compelling. It makes me wanna play even further, despite it getting late here ^.^
I know it's not a sandbox game, but with the freedom we're given in game, it almost feels like one. I loved the arbalest wall-aiming mini-game right at the beginning of the game. It's small "attentions" like these that also keep surprising me during the game, in a good way.
The characters have really grown onto me, even more so than in The Witcher. Zoltan, Dandelion and Triss have become true friends, ones that I wouldn't abandon for anything on Temeria. I really like their (new) character models, their textures, the details on them, like hair or beards, their poses, their clothes, and of course their very personal antics, expressing themselves.
Geralt's character commands play out smoothly, even though I wish they were even more reactive in some fights, when he executes a "fatality", for example. Whenever such a move happens, enemies gather around him, and almost always get a couple of hits in before I can move him again after the "cutscene". Sneaking is a very welcome and rewarding addition to the arsenal of Geralt's abilities.
The skill trees look more interesting than the old ones, and I am very much looking forwards to unlocking the different paths. I have mixed feelings about the Alchemy talent, as I have yet to really need it in the game (except maybe a Cat potion, in an underground). I expect this to change the more I advance in the game though. I also am looking forwards to use snares/traps to my advantage.
I don't like enemies to have shields (and be pretty much invulnerable, when they're ducking), whereas Geralt seems limited to one sword, but I guess that is okay, if it means more challenging battles. Otherwise, I like the new fighting system. It really forces me to pay attention to the position of enemies, when to attack and when to defend (block), which is good in my book.
I don't like the "open chest/barrel, find gold or herb everywhere" feature, but hey, it is only a minor nitpick, and not something The Witcher 2 can be exclusively blamed for.
All in all, I am thoroughly impressed and pleased by what I have seen so far. The hard work of the CDP team shows in game. I don't have any regrets whatsoever pre-ordering this fine game, unlike with other recent games.
Thank you for "The Witcher 2".
