I am a huge fan of the original witcher, it was the 1st rpg I've ever played. I played through the first witcher in prep for the second however, I have no idea what the heck is going on!

I watched the demo by cdprojekt here :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOGD-VQTW-E

however Roche takes me in and talks to me instead. Shortly after that I was given a dialogue option, and not knowing what is happening I asked about the dragon because as I recall there was no mention of a dragon in the witcher. Instead of an explanation I get to play it, but have no idea aside from Trish who the others are, I assume the individual demanding the gate be opened is foltest? Or is it Radovid?

I imported a saved game from the previous witcher, and wanted to know if that is why some of the explanations are done away with.

I exited the game due to the fact that I did not want to soil my witcher 2 experience.

Please bare with me if these are dumb questions, I hope someone has the patience and knowledge to give me a hand.

If its possible I would really like it if you keep it spoiler free as possible. Thanks in advance.
Play through it in order, don't just jump in to random sections. Of course you'd end up confused :)

If it's your first playthrough, choose the first option first, the second option second, etcetera. It'll all make sense then.

Any time anything even remotely significant happens, your journal and quest log will update too. Take the time to pause and read through it. It is very well written. Don't overlook the section with character bios.
The game has quite a few little problems here and there but you put your finger on the one that to me is really a horrible one. Allowing freedom of choice in what is essentially the tutorial opening of a game so as to let people play it out of order is stupid beyond belief. I just naturally did it in order without really thinking, because the questions made sense. Later I realised you could, on your first playthrough, get a story recap that was confusing to no end and also get the added bonus of starting with horribly hard fights.

If CDP read these forums and others, I'm sure they have learned to never, ever do this again.
Ok, so what I gather so far is that I would benefit from starting over, which is not a problem since its only the beginning and choose the dialogue options from top to bottom. Thanks guys

BTW is there an official witcher 2 forum? I went to their website and traditional forums don't seem to found, the log in prompt is grayed out. Luckily I'm a GOG gamer :)
Yes there was an "official" Witcher forum but it's been down since 2 launched.]
On my first start I took Roche a little too literally when he said he only wanted the important bits and picked the assault first since it sounded important...

Good thing I never made it through the first fight, ignored the game for two weeks, started again and played through the tutorial in order. ;-)

I think it has been down even before TW2 was released.
Yeah. I think they tried to do too much at once. Releasing the game, and adding servers and upgrading the forums at the same time.

I think they are doing it on purpose to avoid facing the forum feedback...c'mon..no need to also put down their Witcher 1 site!!! Its hogwash. They've been thru this with their buggy Witcher 1 release (although I loved how it ended up with all the fixes). Them Poles aren't as dumb as they let on!!

To answer your post just play it as an adventure game don't try to figure out the plot; on your 3rd or 4th playthru everything will click(I got blonde roots) forget its a semi-RPG and you'll sleep better at night!! Russian proverb: "The less you know...the better you sleep!!"

I complained on the first as the game kept crashing. I had upgrade my Video card and hadn't done my homework. The card I was using 7600GS went south and I jumped on an 8400GS. Bad move as that thing only had a 64 Bit trnasfer Rate as oppsed to the previous card which was 128. I got an 8600GT and put that in and all was good. Other than that, can't say as I had any issues with that game. I am a moderator at another forum and when we are upgrading the software to new stuff, at some point we have to shut down for the changeover. Granted it is usually for about 12 hours to transfer everything over and this has been considerably longer for sure. Like I said, I think they got in over their heads.
