Just beat it. On first playtrough , on HARD (i did die alot) and without looking any walktroughts.

I've seen a lot of people bashing kayran fight but i don't see how could they have done it differently. Its a huge monster, you cant just go Jack Sparrow on it , you would get eaten just like him. And unlike many people i really enjoyed the fight.

No, it definitely wasn't hard. All there is to it is figuring out the patterns. Its quite well explained IMO and on hard very achievable. Setting the traps is a challenge, but well designed. The QTE are easy and the third part is the only challenging one (which is easy once you know where to go)

Found it much harder on second playthrough.
Tried to think what was different and why I had hard time dodging tentacles, and realized I lacked the talent that make your dodge roll cover more ground.

Just a little tip, even just one point make this fight a lot easier, in my experience.

I just went down there and found myself on the tenticle. I missed the space bar myself as I didn't know what to do when I got on that thing and missed the cue.Oh well, that is only my first serious try at defeating that thing and it was kind of fun.

qte was incredibly easy for me. I won't hide that I also died about 20 times, until I figured how to grab those tentacles with yrden. but the ending qith qte was trivial. maybe it's my reflexes :) fist fighting is the easiest method to earn money for me. I never even get one hit :)

I trap the tentacles easily enough, get the bar to fill while on the final tentacle but never get the prompt to hit space or 'Y' (if using the controller), so Geralt simply falls off. :(

I still canot beat the Kayran!
The problem being not getting the bar far enough on the tentacle ride - the left mouse button clicking just is not working fast enough. So I never get to hit the spacebar and jump.
This does not seem to be a matter of settings as I have tried them all.
So before any of you think that those who canot get past the Kayran are just dense, please consider that there are so many of us that maybe it is a technical issue on some machine setups.

After spending way too much time trying to defeat the Kayran, this is what I ended up having to do to defeat it.
I take out the tentacles on the left first casting yrden and dodging out of the way so that it tries to hit me with one of them.
I run up and destroy the bulbous tumor on the trapped tentacle and run back towards the feet of the statue in the back left corner until the Kayran is done with it's fit.
Once I have those 2 tentacles out of the way I run, dodge, over to the right side and trap the 2nd to last tentacle.
After destroying that I run/dodge back over to the left again and wait until i see the tentacle sweeping towards me and press Y repeatedly until I latch on. Then I press X repeatedly (attack) until it fills up the meter... then I press A (dodge) repeatedly to jump off the tentacle which will in turn have the Kayran bash the stone walkway which will pin it.

This next part can be frustrating....

Now use the protection spell (forgot it's name) and go to the left and try to run up the makeshift ramp... If you can great, but i wasn't able to, I had to dodge up the ramp to get to the top of it. With the protection spell on, the tentacles did not hurt me and I finally was able to dodge all the way to the top of the ramp.
Once you reach the top the battle is over.

that's weird as it's fairly easy to full the bar. In any case with enough health and a quen sign you can actually survive the tentacle hitting you rather than climbing on it
