I've imported correctly the savegame from the first game (I have the swords and the armor) but I've already started to notice that there's maybe some issue with the import. More specifically, I've just received the message and the package from Thaler, even if in my savegame he's dead.

What I want to ask is: should the savegame always be located in the documents folder or can it be removed after importing it? I've deleted the game and the savegame (I have a backup) after I've played a bit of the prologue of W2, so maybe that messed up my choices, is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that it's neccesary for the old savegame to stay on the PC, at least it wasn't for me.
maybe you confused your save files and chose one where thaler is alive or it's just a bug that happened while importing it.

I have a single save file, so no mistakes from that point. Could be a bug. I'll try starting a new game and see if it happens again.
I know it's been 3 years, but I just wanted to let everybody know that the issue didn't present itself when I've recently played the Witcher saga again. So, problem solved (somehow).
Can i ask you how you did it? I have completed Witcher 1 and now i want to import my save to start Witcher 2, but i only have a cloud backup save.

I tried creating manualy a 'The Witcher' folder at my documents and place the saves from the cloud there, but Witcher 2 didn't recognize it. Where shall i place them? And can i even use those backup cloud saves or its no good for W2 to recognize them?

Thanks.

You should have a folder with the savegame under Documents, regardless of having or not having a cloud save, and regardless of the platform you've played it on (Steam or GOG). What I did was just finish the first game and then start the second game and it recognized my saves. Everything worked well (this time LOL).
