Well in my Witcher 1 game I chose Shani over Triss.
Though right at the beginning of the game, in my quest description it says that Triss is my lover.
i found it kinda odd.
I'm curious if Shani is even supposed to be in the Witcher 2 or does it play out the same no matter who you chose?
