It must be my CPU. I tried doing some minimalistic boots and playing the game and noticed no difference, figured I was overdue for a format and fresh Win 7 install so I went ahead and did that. Then tried the Witcher 2, still no difference. It runs smooth in 1024x768 with everything at its lowest, but it looks HORRIBLE (worse than Witcher 1). If I try upping the resolution, even a bit, it just chugs. Hardly enjoyable. I really need a near-constant 30fps (minimum) to get absorbed in a game, every jerk/stutter takes me out of it.
Oh well. It'll still be there when I upgrade.
