Both the menu theme and the games main theme, "Believe" were so iconic that I really miss them. Haven't finished the game yet so I'm not 100% sure ( I think I heard a couple of notes from the old theme in the soundtrack so far) but they should have re used the song, with a different arrangement maybe. Sort of like the James Bond Theme lol, or the Tomb Raider Theme which was present with slight variations in all the original games made by Core.

The Witcher Theme
Totally...Man, I rediscovered it very recently via youtube (didn't remember it much from TW1) and I almost had tears in my eyes, it's absolutely beatiful.
That theme is flawless! ;_;
Yeah, the theme from TW1 is just awesome. Even though I don't really like this whole electric guitar s@#$ :)

I once posted TW2 main theme performed by a symphonic orchestra, it's really neat:

They were clearly going for a different feel than the Celtic majesty of the original Witcher soundtrack. They wanted there to be a sense that an army was marching over the horizon, that the conflict was about more than land and magic. I love the original Witcher soundtrack, but I will have to say it would not fit in this one. Both are great, but I assume it's the Irish in me that yearns for more Celtic :)
As amazing and iconic and perfect that is, would you believe me that the "new theme", that Flash introduced with his FCR is even better? Like goosebumps and teary eyes better? Probably not, but you should at least listen to it once, it fits SO well with the witcher world atmosphere.

Unfortunately I can't say where to get it other than the whole mod, since all the documentation is on the old forum. The mod is here, but the Q&A only says:
Q: Where can I find the main menu music theme? It's awesome!

A: The main music theme of FCR can be found in the folder The Witcher\Data\music\menu.ogg
The Trailer at the bottom of the page is also awesome. :)

Oh, oh, I found it after all!

I don't know about "Believe", but I have definitely heard the menu theme from TW1 in TW2 several times. It is there, just listen harder during your next playthrough.
Oh, those galloping guitars ...

I miss the first game, period. I should play it again soon!! Truly an epic PC game which holds a higher spot in my heart than TW2.

When I bought the first game I knew nothing about Sapkowski but I it got me interested cause it contained lots of gothic elements, possession, spectres, vampires, supernatural being form folk tales and such. And the atmosphere was great too. But I found out that it wasn't about an alternative Middle Age, it was about a whole alternative universe, elves were in it (a bit banal), giant monstrous chicken (Cocatrice), spiders etc. So it was not based on the christian fear of the devil in it's various forms and of old pagan religions but it was sort of a modern take on The Lord Of The Rings. It disappointed me a lttle but the atmosphere made up for it, I loved the bleakness. TW2 has much less of that and the creatures are not here to scare you, thy're just sword fodder. I'm at the start of Chapter 2 and I'm expecting to fight a giant snail at some point lol, or a demonic turkey. I love the game, think it's one of the best I ever played but yup, I think I like the first one best.
i,ve heard the music from tw1 i few times in chapter 2 ,it was a nice surprise to here that old familiar melody
