Hi,
I just wanted to leave this info here. Maybe it's helpful for others.
I had Witcher 2 crashing a lot on Linux. Then I figured out that a process called tracker-extract ate up a lot of CPU power.
Then I removed the tracker tasks before playing with
tracker-control -k
and I had no more crashes since then.
Afterwards I also decided to remove tracker from my system at all, because I don't use those GNOME tools that depend on it anyway.
There's also the possibilty to limit the resources tracker uses. I didn't check those. Ask your favorite web search if you don't want to remove it completely and are too lazy to switch it off manually before playing.
This helped with perfomance issues on other games too.
Cheers!
